The third-generation GMC Acadia gets a serious size upgrade, but that’s not the only exciting change to this crossover SUV. The new 2024 GMC Acadia has everyone talking.
Sometimes Bigger Is Better
First unveiled at the 2023 Detroit Auto Show in September, the 2024 GMC Acadia is bigger and bolder than ever. Size and styling aren’t the only factors at play, though. The pros at GMC have gone all-out with the new generation of its popular crossover SUV lineup.
GMC Takes Size Concerns Out of the Equation
There’s a lot to love about the new GMC Acadia, but let’s start with the obvious. This beast has grown in every dimension to great effect.
The 2024 Acadia’s wheelbase weighs in at 120.9 inches. At first, a 10.6” size increase may not sound like much to write home about. However, it brings the cargo space up to almost 23 cu ft behind the third row from the second generation’s 12.8.
GMC also put that extra space to good use in creating a 24% larger first row. As a result, the Acadia now leads its class in legroom and resolving a common problem with crossover SUVs.
Many vehicles in the class have poor third-row visibility. The 2024 GMC Acadia’s extra space means its engineers could push the SUV’s D-pillar further back to create a larger rear quarter window.
More Power Comes Standard
Every trim level of the 2024 Acadia comes standard with a new 2.5L I4-turbo LK0 engine. With 328 HP and 326 lb-ft of torque, it’s more than capable of accommodating the latest generation’s extra size and weight. The new engine is paired with an eight-speed transmission on all trim levels.
Another happy result of the Acadia’s powertrain upgrade is its increased towing capacity. The crossover SUV now has a towing capacity of 5,000 lbs. That’s enough to accommodate heavy loads and even most 25-ft campers.
The icing on the cake of the Acadia’s engine upgrade is that experts expect the new 2.5L to be more fuel efficient, as well.
The 2024 GMC Acadia Is Off-Road Ready
Today’s drivers want their crossover SUVs to be adventure-ready. GMC has gladly accommodated those expectations by creating the most capable AT4 Acadia yet.
The AT4 trim level incorporates everything drivers need to be ready for their next great adventure. With a 1” lift, 31.5” tires on 18” wheels, hydraulic rebound control, and off-road suspension tuning, the 2024 Acadia goes the extra mile.
This year’s AT4 trim level also sports an Active Torque Control AWD system that distributes torque optimally to make the most of a twin-clutch rear differential.
Still a Leading Contender Among Premium SUVs
It would be a mistake to assume that GMC has shifted its focus to cater exclusively to the adventure crowd. One look at the 2024 Acadia’s range-topping Denali shows that the brand still prioritizes luxury and premium features.
The Denali features modern styling upgrades and luxurious interior options like heated and ventilated front seats, active noise canceling, and advanced tech features like Super Cruise hands-free driver assistance.
Drivers who missed the 2024 GMC Acadia’s unveiling at the Detroit Auto Show don’t have to wait long to check out all these upgrades for themselves. The third generation of the automaker’s popular crossover SUV will start rolling off the production lines in early 2024.
