3 Cars We Can’t Wait to See in 2024

3 Cars We Can't Wait to See in 2024

The automotive industry is always innovating, and a number of totally new cars for sale hit the market every year. For 2024 new cars, it’s no surprise that most of the upcoming offerings are either SUVs, EVs, or both. However, there are still some gas-powered vehicles heading for the showroom as well.

2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray

It was inevitable that an EV version of the Corvette would eventually be among Chevrolet’s new cars for sale. The 2024 Corvette E-Ray should be available by the end of 2023, and it’s the first production Corvette of its kind with a hybrid powertrain and AWD. Chevrolet is clear about the E-Ray’s intentions, and it’s not to chase the newest trend or go green. It’s simply about taking performance to the next level.

The E-Ray features a small-block V8 combined with a battery pack and an electric motor. The V8 engine is undoubtedly the heart of the operation as it makes 495 horsepower, but the electric motor kicks it up to 655 horsepower. The hybrid system adds extra power for acceleration and recharges. Don’t expect any significant all-electric range on the E-Ray, though, the electric motor is simply there to make the car more efficient and powerful.

2024 Jeep Recon

The upcoming Jeep vehicle getting the most attention is the Jeep Recon. The company hasn’t been secretive in connecting it to the Wrangler, both in design cues and performance. The Recon has removable doors and a convertible power top that slides back with a one-touch function. Jeep indicates that the Recon is Trail Rated through its Jeep Selec-Terrain traction control, e-locker axles, and big off-road tires.

There aren’t a lot of additional details about the Recon yet, but it will be on the Stellantis STLA large platform. Jeep is also careful to emphasize that the Recon won’t replace the Wrangler, despite its similarities. The Recon should go into production in 2024 and will be made in the United States.

2024 GMC Sierra EV

The GMC Sierra EV will follow the Silverado EV to market in 2024. It will feature most of the same options and equipment, plus 400 miles of range and 754 horsepower in the top trim. The ultra-upscale Denali Edition 1 will be the first model out and will start at $100,000. More affordable options for the GMC Sierra EV should be made available later in 2024 and then in 2024.

Other Options

There are quite a few other options that will be among the new cars for sale in 2024. But many of them are higher-end models, including the Audi A6 E-Tron, the Mercedes-Benz EQA Sedan, the Polestar 5, the Tesla Cybertruck (probably), and many others. Auto manufacturers have recently discovered that there’s a lot of profit in releasing high-end models first before getting the more affordable ones out. You can probably expect that to be the norm in the years to come.

The future of cars is definitely in flux, with EV models becoming increasingly prolific. The next advance should be an increasing amount of driverless technology. For example, Mercedes-Benz is likely to release some models with driverless technology in 2024.
